Since obtaining a Bachelor's degree in computer science way back in 1987, I have been involved in computer and technology work for 35+ years. From teaching math and computer science at a middle and high school to teaching courses at Albany Technical School and Florida State's Center for Professional Development, I have had a variety of teaching experiences.
I have also worked at various places doing computer and tehnical support. Currently, I am Director of Strategic Initiatives and Technology at the Florida Dental Association where I have been for 29+ years. I have also been involved with the American Society of Association Executives and Florida Society of Association Executives (FSAE). I have led sessions at their annual conferences, education days and other training opportunities.
In 2015, I decided to pursue a Certification as a CAE (Certified Association Executive). To have enough CE hours to sit for the exam, I went back to school and earned an MBA degree which I finished in December 2016. In 2017, I passed the CAE exam. I have also served on the Board of FSAE and was an officer for 2 years.
I am married, my wife Jennifer works at the Florida Department of Education and we have 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. I am very involved in my church and our local community and have served as HOA president of two neighborhoods (the most thankless job ever!)
In 1991, while teaching a computer course at Albany Technical School, I infamously said the World Wide Web would never catch on in the United States. Well, I am no prophet that's for sure.
